Sorry to hear about your dad. My Grandfather left me his Marlin 22 rifle. I will never get rid of it.

You should make one specifically geared for women!

still working on it having touble finding leather thread here in my area put other than that the holster is only waiting on me to finish. I tried to use sowing thread but its not going to hold and if its pulled to tight it cuts though the leather.Plus I want to find some thicker leather. As for your holster what side do you want it on left or right, IWB,OWB,and what kind of handgun would it be made for also do you want it to ride high or low or in between

Here's a couple of holsters I made. My first effort was the tan one that's made like a CrossBreed only all leather. It's a tuckable IWB that's comfortable enough but kind of a pain to get the shirt to conceal it just right. It was made for my Ruger SP101.

My second effort is the pocket holster for the Walther PPK. I named it the Convertable because the main holster part could be flipped over on the anti-print panel and used in either right or left pocket. After about a week, the gun started printing through anyway so I added the magazine pouch to fill out the other side. Works great but can't be converted to the left pocket carry. Guess it could if I removed the magazine carrier or just made a mirror image of it for left pocket carry. I knew I would like this one because when I made the pattern for it from the cardboard from a cereal box and stapled it together, I used the cardboard holster for a week before I got around to making it out of leather.

My next project will be a vertical shoulder holster for the PPK. My plan is to make the harness and holster separate so all I have to do is make new holsters for my other guns but use the same harness. That's the best part of rolling your own. Doubt that I'll ever buy another holster.

I know a member on here that has made holsters, I have a couple of them, I won't divulge his name without asking his permission though. Holsters take time to make because you have to know an understand leather, its a craft that requires patience. I'm looking forward to seeing how yours comes out. Good luck

I have made a few rtuck77.
Anything in particular you need to know?

For sewing I like waxed linen or 12lb braided nylon fishing line and do not use 2 needles, just work back through after doing 1 side. I use a spaced multi hole punch now but in the old days used a very thin sharp home made awl to pre-punch the holes. Glue the seam with Barge Cement before punching or sewing.
