OK - I know our forum is about CCW but wanted to ask if any of you own one of the M&P 15's and if so - how about a mini-review.
I am thinking of getting a new black rifle and this is about the only one I have no direct experience with.
Thanks everyone,

No experience with the M&P other than the 15-22...
My go to rifle is a Stag Model 2T. It's performed flawlessly.

I'm getting ready to pick one up from CDNN (well in about 2 weeks hopefully) as a starter rifle. Before you say that it's not a starter rifle, CDNN has them for $599 right now after the S&W factory $100 rebate (or 5 free mags). The model that qualifies for it is the Optics Ready (M&P15OR) chambered in 5.56Nato/.223 and has the flat top ready for optics or red dots. I figure for that price, it's a great platform to buy and try. Even if I don't like it (which I doubt will be the case) it won't be hard at all to sell it to someone else for the same price it was purchased for. The cheapest I've found it elsewhere is $865 or in that ballpark.

I'd like to see the Ad.. why don't you put the link on here in case I'm not the only one interested.

I just called CDNN to ensure the price was valid and they said it was a real ad and the price is $599 after the rebate ($699 but with mail in $100 rebate). He said that he wasn't sure how long that price would last, could be another day, could be a month. It looks like I'm going to do everything in my power to order one much sooner than later.
But here ya go. Item number is #811 003. To order, call 1-800-588-9500.

Well, I pulled the (metaphorical) trigger this evening and placed my order for the rifle with CDNN. I decided that I could let my strict rule about using a specific credit card ONLY for emergencies (never buying stuff with it, just sits in my truck) slide this once to take advantage of an amazing deal.
It's going to ship on Tuesday and should arrive at Basin Firearms on Thursday eveing, so hopefully I can pick it up either Friday or Saturday. Total price after shipping and credit card fee (3%) was $739.62. After my $100 rebate and paying the $10 transfer fee with my FFL, it'll come to a final cost of roughly $650. That is definitely not a bad price for this rifle at all!
Now, it's time to figure out what kind of scope and other accessories I want to buy for it! Any recommendations on scopes? I probably won't have ammo for it for a month, so that'll give me time to research everything.
