View Full Version : Arched or Straight?

Unless you have shot or owned a Colt 1911, you probably don't know what I am talking about since most 1911 manufacturers I think use the straight one. I think the arched mainspring housing made it's debut with the M1911A1, or shortly before. I had heard years ago that the reason for the arched MSH was that many GIs were shooting "low" with the M1911.

Personally I prefer the straight MSH, but I want to know what the educated and experienced say.

I have tried several different ones and even made a few that probably defy clasification.
None of them made a rat's behind of difference when I bother to aim the thing

They don't make a difference to me either when I aim, but I think they were talking natural point of aim, basically point and shoot. I prefer the straight one for the aesthetics.
