Just got an XD .45 Tactical and really like it. I didn't have a .45 in my armory so I thought I would get one after doing some research on the XD. Am now looking at the XDm in .40... Really nice guns...

Nice DogoDave! There is a guy at the range who has one. He embarrasses me with his groupings. Very accurate firearm.

Bang Bang from what I hear on the XD Forum it is going to be a long time before SA commits to an XDm in .45. There are no plans to even look at it according to one of the guys on the forum that went to the Shot Show and talked with an SA rep.
So you might want to look at the XD in what ever configuration and caliber you like.. When I researched my XD .45 I was looking at the Taurus PT1911 as well and almost went with it but the 13 + 1 pretty much sold me. And I haven't looked back.. Plus you can trick that bad boy out like I have never seen before. They have a pile of stuff you can get and do to it. I took it to the range about 2 weeks after I got it and shot 100 rounds thru it and the grouping at 15 yards was impressive right out of the box. I was shooting to the left about 2 inches but I think that was me not being used to the trigger safety. Had a bunch of guys drooling all over it at the range. So there you are and there you are.

I was in the same boat in that I really wanted the XDm in a .45 but didn't want to wait. So, I got the .45 in a XD and the .40 in an XDm. The main problem now is deciding which one to carry!
I really like both of them. The XDm is different, but I'm not sure I would upgrade from one to the other. I think you just need to get both bang bang, that way you don't have to agonize over the decision. After all, decisions about gun upgrades produce stress. Since stress is best avoided, just get both;)

My wife and I both have the XD 9 service. Hers is bi-metal and mine is black so we can tell the difference. We really like these guns. In fact when we got our conceal carry permits back in Kansas we also purchased XD 9 subcompacts. Again hers is bi-metal and mine is black.
We really like the sub compact for carry. They are much easier to conceal. The one thing to remember about the shorter guns is, you give up some on accuracy for distant shots. We do not think we will do much distant shooting with them so no harm no foul as they will be plenty effective at the distance we may need.

Those look so much bigger than my XD sub-compact. Is it comfortable to carry a firearm that big?
