Tip of the Month…When you practice, include some vocal commands in your practice. “Stop!” “Don’t come any closer!” are simple commands which, if said in a loud authoritative voice, may be all that is needed to deter and a potential attacker. And it lets anyone in the immediate vicinity know that there is a problem, you could be a victim, and you tried to stop the threat. For such a command to be effective, you need to practice saying it in a loud commanding voice. Next time you are out practicing, include repeating (loudly) some commands as part of your drills.
