I am old and gray and been a Republican since Ike. I have been pro everything including all choices. I lived most of my life in the Santa Monica mountains with large dog and mean-as-snakes neighbors so I never needed to be armed until I moved to Arizona and the last of the dogs died. We have the law with us here and many are ready for trouble. My eyesight is not good enough for me to be trusted with a weapon but my neighbors are again ready for trouble. This must be a part of living either in the mountains or on the desert.
I am a Ron Paul supporter and do some writing on the problems in our political mess. I am open and honest and have managed in the last decades to make many enemies.

Well, welcome to the site. We hope you can make many friends here and no enemies. I am a desert rat myself from New Mexico. My back yard are big beautiful mountains. Pull up a chair and start sharing your stories.

Thank you for a lovely welcome. Yes, moving from the Pacific Ocean to the desert was a culture shock. It was more of a shock of indifference than weather. I have been a political junkie for 60 years and ran into the "retired community" of what can only be called "the bible belt."
Being a champion of individual rights I found myself trying to convince voters to keep all our Bill of Rights actively intact. Apparently the over 60 crowd needs the federal government to tell them what not to do. The diversity of California is not found in this part of Arizona.
I truly feared the government removing our right to bear arms along with the individual choices of social decisions that must be kept out of the Federal Government. The Constitution has apparently lost the power to protect us from the government.
