My first ever handgun was a used Smith&Wesson model 686, 4" barrel, stainless finish, .357 magnum. It was an off duty piece for a Tucson, AZ sheriffs deputy. Still own it, carry it on occassion, and love that gun.

Favorite tack driver and pin shooter is my S&W 686 6" ported shooting a home grown load.
.75" 5 round group at 25 feet from the bench. I can average 1.25" freehand for the same.

I have two Taurus revolvers that I shoot, a M85 in .357 with a 4" barrel and a Model 85UL snubbie (J frame) in .38 spl. I love them both... the .357 is a tack driver, the snubbie is a typical snubbie.. .I can manage 3" groups at 15 yards...

My favorite "plinking" gun is a Ruger Superblackhawk. It just feels so good in
my hand!
Most of the time my carry weapon is a Charter .44 Bulldog

Lately I've been shooting my S&W model 17 (.22 LR), but really like to shoot my Colt .45s when I can find the ammo. Years ago I did a lot of reloading. I may have to get back into that, if one can find the supplies.

I have a 686, but with a 2 1/2 inch barrel if I remember correctly. It is a great revolver!

It would be hard for me to pick a favorite revolver. I like them all for different reasons. For general plinking and playing around, I like my .22s. One is a Smith & Wesson, and the other is a Colt Peacemaker. For the big bark, I like my Smith & Wesson model 29s.

I've been looking at Smiths but haven't jumped yet. Have a Redhawk in .44 mag, a Bisely in .45 colt and a Blackhawk convertable .45 acp/.45 colt. I really like the break from my semi-autos though the .44 mag is kind of harsh after a while.

I think the Redhawk .44 magnum is a great revolver. I remember when it came out that I was amazed at how much heavier built it was than my Smith & Wesson Model 29. I always thought about getting one.
My experience though with the Super Blackhawk stands out in my mind too. I remember going out with a friend who had one. When I fired it, it rolled back in my hand and the hammer bit me pretty good. They were hand loads, and may have been a little "hot".

I'm in love with my old snag-free SS 4" S&W 65-3 M&P .357 mfg. 1986 and it's still a sweet shooter!
