I would like to remind everyone with a New Mexico Concealed Carry License that a Refresher Class is required at the mid point of their license. You have two months before the mid point to two months after the mid point to take the class.
We review basic firearms safety, a review of the legal aspects of the use of deadly force, do some shooting drills and then re-qualify. I think you will enjoy the class.
When you are ready for the class, let me know and I'll be glad to work with you.

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) The Senate voted 31-9 on Monday to eliminate the requirement that New Mexicans licensed to carry concealed handguns take a refresher course two years after they obtain or renew their licenses.
The bill's sponsor, Senate Republican Leader Stuart Ingle of Portales, said the two-hour course is unnecessary and creates paperwork and cost for licensees.
The requirement for a four-hour refresher course when licenses are renewed, every four years, would remain in the law.
The bill went to the House with no debate.

The bill to remove the Refresher Class did pass the Senate but was never considered by the House. It never made it to the House floor on the last day. So it is still a requirement.
I do have to say that I have mixed emotions about the Refresher. It is a bit more paperwork (for me, not for you...all you have to do is take the class). For those who shoot regularly, the Refresher probably isn't necessary. However, I'll bet at least half the people taking the Refreshder haven't fired their handgun since they qualified two years before. The Refresher at least gets them out shooting again, and in some cases, rekindles an interest in shooting, which is not a bad thing. As I say, I do have mixed emotions about it.
