I just had to vent. On January 29, 2009 I sent in all paperwork (all in order I might add). My check cleared February 2, 2009. I waited about 3 months, well 5 or 6 days short of 90 days. I called and talk to a lady in the Concealed Carry Unit. She tells me the only information she is privy to is that it is still in background. So I email a Sgt on the front page of the NM CCW website. The reply says licenses can take up to 90 days to clear background and to write back 90 days after my check cleared. My second email to the Sgt. is sent about a week later, this time I'm told that a request for background was sent to a local agency the second week in February and was waiting for a reply. I'm also told that a second request will be sent on this date. So I wait another two weeks and call the number as well as write an email. The phone was answered by a lady who states she will look into it and give me a call back. While waiting for a call back I get a phone call from a friend of mine who works here at a "local agency" I'm told that a fax was received asking for a background. The reply was faxed back and immediately a "second" request for background is faxed. Almost within seconds from this (local agency) call I get a return call from the concealed carry unit and am told that a second request was just sent for a request for background. I give them the information that a reply should be waiting at their fax. At this I'm told that everything else appeared to be in order and I should have my lic. printed in a few days and mailed to me. It upsets me that people don't do their jobs correctly then attempt to cover up their short comings. Just own up to your mistakes and I'll be more accepting of the circumstances. I guess when it's all said and done the day ended better then it started. There's my rant for today.
