I took the Taurus Pro 145 I just acquired to the range on Sunday and it fired nicely. I do have a question about the site picture. I was able to hit where I wanted if I had the front site just above the rear site. Not a perfect site picture. The rear site is adjustable but doesn't appear to move up just side to side. I believe if the rear site could be moved up or front site down it would be much easier to shoot. Has anyone had this problem? Is there a fix? Is it me? Any help or comments would be appreciated. Thanks and have a safe day.

Before we touch the sights we need to examine your grip on this weapon.
Were you shooting off a bench? Is there any chance there was a change in grip or a pre-ignition push that may send rounds high on target?
Do you know how to test for pre-ignition push and how to fix it if it occurs?
Is there any gap between the web of your hand and the top (beavertail) of your backstrap? The shooting hand needs to be high on the grip so there is no gap between the web of the hand and the backstrap.
If you have a correct grip then we need to look at the height of your front sight. I don't have a Taurus so you will have to tell me if the front sight is in a dovetail or held in with a pin. If so, it is just a matter of finding and purchasing a shorter sight. If the sight is peened in place or if you are confident you can do it with clean edges, the sight can be filed down to the correct height. It may need some re-finishing. If you are not confident you can do it right, take it to a gunsmith. It would help the gunsmith if you can mark the point on the sight that you want it shortenend to with a scribe. I took an NRA instructor course a couple of years ago with a local gunsmith but I should check with Bman before I make any recommendations on his site.
If these ideas don't help, maybe we will see each other on the range soon and I would be glad to take a look at it.

I believe I'm doing all I'm suppose to. I was standing about 25 feet from the target on the pistol range, once I figured out how to aim (incorrect or not) I shot 5 rounds at the metal target 50 yards away at each corner and hit 3 out of 5 shots there. Actually the weapon shoots low (with a good site picture) so I had o have the front sight slightly higher then the rear to hit on target. I was planning a trip in the next couple of weekends to take my time and shoot a couple rounds at a time squeeze slow and really be positive of what I was doing. Last weekend was the first time I shot and only ran 50 rounds through. I was really making sure it operated correctly then I planned on fine tuning. Thanks for the reply.

Hey J,
To me that PT-145 is a bear to shoot. I have the same problem with it shooting low, way low. I no longer have the patience to work with it, and to think, it was going to be my carry pistol!! lol. I am seriously thinking of selling it and getting a Smith M&P 45. Everyone raves about that pistol so I may give it a try. Sorry I could not help you further.

That helps, if it's not just me, then I feel better. I purchased it recently so I'm not ready to give up just yet. Have a safe and good weekend.

I don't know about the PT-145, but I swear by my Smith M&P 45. I love how it shoots, and that I can set everything up for left handed as well.
