I know this is kinda a weird question, but has anyone on this forum ever been shot before? Can you tell us about it and what you felt? I hope that no one has but it would be a good topic to talk about.

When I was young (about 22) I live across the street from an even younger lady-friend of mine. Her landlord was a weird guy who lived upstairs from her. I think he only let her live there because she was young and cute. He was a real drinker.

It wasn't long until he would come down to her apartment, drunk, wanting "favors" in place of rent. This is where I entered the picture. She of course was uncomfortable with this, so she asked me to talk to him and convince him to leave her alone. I did that, and he said he didn't mean anything by it and apologized. But it wasn't long until he was back at it.

One night she called me and said she was scared. He had threatened her with a shotgun, and he told her that if I came over again he would shoot me. I told her to call the police and that I would be right over to stay with her until the police came. I loaded my .45 and stuck it in my belt.

As I was walking through the front door of her apartment, he fired his shotgun right through the floor of his upstairs apartment at me. I remember hearing a loud bang and the wood and plaster raining all over me. When I realized what happened, my reaction was anger. The "stinging" feeling didn't start until later. I really expected him to come running downstairs to finish the job, but he didn't. Anyway, I was ready with my .45.

After a few minutes, the police arrived. One of the officers asked me to put my gun away so the other officers could "tell the bad guys from the good guys". After a standoff of about 30 minutes they took him away in handcuffs. I was taken to the ER and treated for a number of bleeding wounds.

He was released a few days later. He claimed that he was only cleaning his gun and that it accidentally went off.

Looking back, I certainly would have handled this differently. For one thing, I would have had her come to my house and encouraged her to find another place to live as soon as possible.

Lesson: It is far better to walk out of a dangerous situation than to walk into one.

You had a good day after all Colt 45, but what happened to the BG ?

Not sure the reason for asking, but here is a post where the guy who got shot
was hit by a 10mm, a shotgun slug, and three 9mm rounds. Warning, the
photos may be upsetting. He was in a wheelchair for quite some time.
The post is ongoing and he has not yet given details of the incident.

He was released a few days later after claiming that he was just cleaning his shotgun when it went off. Shortly after this incident he sold the house he had across the street from me and moved. I don't know where he moved to and I have never heard of him again.

Two too many purple hearts.

On on the inside and just above the left ankle and one on the right side just above the hip bone. Both while in combat operations. One in VietNam and one while in Granada.

and YES - they hurt like hell.

I don't recommend anyone looking to get shot just to understand the feeling.
