Welcome everyone to ConcealCarryChat.com. Tell us about yourself, where you are from and how long you have been carrying concealed. We hope that you can take from this site and even give some. Let us know how we can help.

Just wanted to stop in and introduce myself. We just moved from Kansas this last summer and New Mexico does not reciprocate with Kansas Conceal carry license so the wife and I had to start over from scratch here in New Mexico.
We had our Kansas license for about an year and it was only good if you were a resident there and we wanted to have one for the same reasons we had before.
This weekend we took classes with Riclin Firearms Training so that we could apply. By the way, the training that we got was excellant and we would recomend them highly for conceal carry classes.
Glad to see that there will be a forum to keep up todate on what is happening in our state regarding conceal carry.

Welcome Carlysle. Also welcome to New Mexico. We are glad to have at our site. We hope that you find the site useful and I look forward to getting to know you. I also am a student of Riclin. His class is amazing. He does a wonderful job making everyone feel comfortable with not only carrying, but shooting as well. Look forward to talking to you more.

I am a new member of the forum. Got an e-mail from Riclin Firearms yesterday recommending the site and thought I would try it out.
I am a retiree (20 years USAF as an Electronics Technician and 25 years as a System Safety Engineer in the Defense Industry). I have more than 30 years experience in the emergency services field, mostly volunteer (firefighter, law enforcement officer, paramedic, confined space rescue technician, HAZMAT technician, etc). I have had gun permits in the past in Massachusetts and New York. I just took a Concealed Carry Course last month from Riclin and am waiting for my license to arrive from the State. I second Carlysle's opinion of the excellent course put on by Riclin.
I currently enjoy woodworking (custom furniture design and construction), Church work (deacon in charge of building maintenance), general handyman work, volunteering (currently active with Habitat for Humanity), and Veterans services (Judge Advocate of local Legion Post and District Vice Commander).
My current arsenal consists of a S&W Model-17 6" barrel revolver .22LR, S&W Model 19 6" barrel revolver .357 magnum, and my newest addition, Taurus 24/7 Pro .45 semi-automatic pistol.

Hi Everybody,
I got the same E-Mail from Richard about this forum. I think it is a great idea!
My wife and I both got our NM permits last summer. In fact we took the class with our most esteemed site Administrator :). Hopefully, I can convince my wife to post on occasion and enlighten all of us with the female perspective.
I am an electronics geek living near Cloudcroft. I sit about 20 feet from the fence line to the Lincoln National Forest and write software when I'm not looking at gun sites. My wife is 4'11 (and 1/2) and a serious pistol herself.
The current arsenal is getting a bit silly I suppose: Glock 19 and 27(my normal cc), Springfield XD .45 acp, Springfield XD-M .40, Kahr CW-9 (wife's normal cc), Browning HP 9mm, Taurus .357, and the latest is a Remington 870.

Hey all!
That email from Richard has made the rounds! That is what brought me here.
I took Richard's class this past summer and learned a lot. Back in the 70s I had a permit in Michigan, which at that time wasn't really good for anything. It was such a hassle getting it that when it was time to renew I didn't bother.
I have more guns than I want to list here, but I will say that I have a recently acquired Glock 27 (.40 S&W) that is now my carry weapon. It was a Christmas present from my wife. I started getting into guns and shooting as soon as I turned 18, but have never been a hunter.
I am retired from to jobs now. I worked 22 years in a gray iron foundry in Michigan in industrial management. After that, I worked for a Michigan cross-lake carferry service as an IT administrator. We moved to New Mexico in May, and lived in Alamogordo for a few months, then moved to Las Cruces.
I am looking forward to getting to know y'all!
Max

I retired as a MSGT. from the Air Force with 21 years. I retired as a Sgt. with the Miami Co. Sheriff's Dept., Peru Indiana with 22 years. Indiana gives it's Law Enforcement Officers that retire with over 21 years a Lifetime CW Permit at no cost to the officer. Congress passed a Law that gives Officers that are recognized by a State as being retired a permit to carry a weapon in all 50 states. The President signed it into Law.

ahh
i new there would be a glock question :)
yes i do like the glocks, i have also tried the sig, but for some reason i am drawn to the springfield for comfort reasons and it seems to fit my hand better.
a freind has the glock 23 as his service weapon he has no complaints at all, i have shot it, i like it, and you are correct there are plenty of the glocks around.
thanks

Or an airsoft gun. Ha
I just joined, thanks also to Riclin. I have been licensed for several years and prefer my Kahr PM-40. However, I gotta say that my S & W Model 19, even with a 4 inch barrel, packs one hell of a punch!
I intend to listen and learn a lot. Thanks for your interest in keeping us all safe.

Hi all, I'm a new member and wanted to introduce myself. I introduced myself in the New Member thread. So at the risk of repeating here are the highlights. I'm currently waiting well over 90 days for my CCL. I plan on carrying a Glock23. I have had it for about a year and have been very happy. I dumped my Ruger P90DC mainly because of the size. It would weigh me down if I tried to conceal it. It took me quit a few rounds through the glock to become as efficient with it as I was with the Ruger. But I'm happy and satisfied now. I did own the Ruger for about 15yrs and only gave it up because I knew if I didn't I would never become comfortable with the Glock. I have worked in and around law enforcement for the last 12 years or so. I have made enemies and will be much more comfortable when I can conceal carry. BTW, enemies were made by testimony putting wrong doers away for up to 12 years in prison. I pride myself on how well I can handle situations without elevating to force, but you never know when verbal judo and wit will fail you. I found out about the forum from a business card I picked up at MDC in case anyone was wondering. Have a great day.
