I broke my left wrist on wed and being left handed have had to start carrying on my right side. I do have a couple right handed holsters lying around (thank god) and was wondering how many of us practice our weak side drills. IE 1 hand reloading and shooting with our non dominant hand. I do about every other time i go to the range and am now very glad I've taken the opportunity to do it.
On a more humorous note. I wish i had done the same with shaving, shaving, brushing my teeth, writing and wiping. The latter is about possible weak side.. talk about a mind boggler.

I do practice shooting off handed but not reloading or butt wiping...you raise an interesting issue.

I taught one handed (with emphasis on the weak hand) manipulations including presentation (that can be tough depending on your concealment and the security level of your holster), reloading, and malfunction clearance drills. This should be part of any advanced handgun class. If I get an opportunity to instruct locally, I'll be glad to meet you on the range to run you through a few drills.
.
Just to clarify, this is restricted to handgun training. The wiping problem you will have to solve on your own. I am sure you can apply some Improvise, Adapt, and Overcome spirit to it and develop a viable technique.

When I purchased my Glock23 I found that if I was having trouble hitting the target. Everything was low and to the left. When I qualified for my CCW the instructor had me shoot weak hand. As I have qualified before with weak hand it didn't feel too uncomfortable. It was also pointed out to me that I'm a better shot with my weak hand. I wonder if it's worth my while to buy holsters and switch hands? Maybe my right hand is actually my weak hand.

. It could be you are just naturally talented on that side but first think about these possiblities.
. Are you cross eye dominant? You could be getting a better sight picture with the gun directly in line with your dominant eye.
. If that is not the case, do you have any deficiencies (perhaps from an injury) in your right hand, wrist, forearm, etc...?
. Next, and this is the most likely answer to why you shoot better with your weak hand, is do you find yourself concentrating on the principles of marksmanship more because you know it is more of a challenge?
. Weak hand shooting has been a requirement of law enforcement handgun qualification in this state since before I started. Most of the shooters I taught tend to slow down and verify they have a perfect sight picture and then concentrate on making a perfect trigger press when shooting weak handed. They tend to do this because they anticipate the difficulty of the shot. If they focused on the basics this much when shooting with the strong hand they would all qualify expert.
. It could be just a psychological quirk of anticipating some difficulty in the task.
. On your right handed shooting, did your instructor do any target analysis to suggest why you were shooting low and left?

I think you hit on just about every reason.
.I am cross eye dominant. I shoot from a weaver position to place the pistol in front of my dominant eye when shooting right handed.
.When I was a child I broke my right wrist/thumb it had something like 28 fractures. I was in a cast for 9 months before it finally healed.
.I do take more time firing with my left because it is un-natural.
.I was anticipating the recoil with my right hand thus pushing forward prior to pistol firing the round. This has been taken care of with dry firing and practice.

i'm cross eye dominant also. i shoot decent with the right and decent with the left and i did notice similar issues about anticipation et. But, i fixed that by putting a lighter trigger on the pistol and it suprises me everytime now and a hell of a lotta practice (may not be the best fix but it works for me at the moment). rifles i shoot right handed though... weird huh.
