For those of you who might be interested. I purchased a SCCY CPX-1 (http://www.sccyindustries.com/2009/) the end of June from jteater (Basin Firearms). BTW, he is a great guy to deal with. I hadn't been able to make it out to the range until yesterday. I fired about 60 rounds of 115gr. target ammo through it. It shoots very accurate at about 10 to 15 feet. I didn't get much further because I was frustrated with the safety. I would shoot about 3 or 4 rounds and the safety engaged on its own. I called the company today and am being sent a kit to fix the safety issue. When it arrives and I install, I'll take it back to the range. I'll keep everyone updated.
I guess those guns have always had a problem with the safety. Thought about buying one for myself but after reading some of the posts on the Scyy Forum (http://skyyforum.com/) I decided against it. Hope you have better luck with yours than some of the people on there.

Update: I received two safety kits both had the same problem. After about 3 or 4 rounds the safety engages. The third kit which was sent to me disabled the safety. It still has the lever however, it does not move. Other than the safety being inoperable I am satisfied with the weapon. It shoots very well with a tight grouping up to 20 or 25 feet with no problem. I have only shot about 100 rounds or so through the weapon. I like the size of the weapon for conceal carry. I'm concerned when carrying with one in the chamber and no safety. I'm not totally dis-satisfied.

Is the company making another effort to correct the problem?

I looked on their website and it doesn't look like there are any internal safeties, unless I missed it.

I have a friend who has one, he cut the end of the safety lever off, left just enough to use. Has not had any more issues with it. Something else to look for is the slide is not made of the best material. His slide broke where it runs against the front rail. He sent it back and they replaced the slide, he had it back in less than two weeks. Has not had any other problems with it. It is a good shooter, I was considering one, ended up with a PF-9 instead.

Good choice. I love my PF-9. It has a kick to it, but great for concealing.

I can take some pictures of it. I don't have any yet. If anyone in Alamogordo would like to see or fire it they are welcome to drop me a line and we can meet at the range. I believe the resolution was to remove the safety. And no I don't believe there are any internal safeties. It is upsetting because one of the reasons I chose this weapon besides the size, caliber, and capacity was the safety. It is a great shooter for what it is. I'm not sure if shaving the safety lever would make a difference. That was the first thing I was concerned with after my first outing. So I changed my grip as to not touch the safety lever with my hand. I have so many safety kits laying around I could try it and see if it works. It conceals great...
