Just thought I would throw this out there to see what the average is?
Question: How many wifes/spouses approve or disapprove of you owning/carrying firearms?

My wife completely approves. She took the CCW class from Riclin Firearms in March and just got her license the other day. She thinks that I carry too much but, will probably change her mind once she gets used to carrying herself.

My wife not only approves , but she like to go look at new guns and always wants to go to the range for practice.
She carries in her pocketbook and has no problem with me carrying.
She is making it tough on my wallet though.

she's coming around. she likes shooting 9mm atm. everything else is a bit to rough on her.
however she did shoot a 12ga off hand the other day with 3in 00 buck. i was proud of her. she did it 3 times and then said that it was enough. :) she had a little bruising going on.

We took a lttle trip in to NYC this morning and she was more nervous than I about me not being able to carry there, so I'd say she approves very much. She just hates how much money I spend on my little obsession. I've got around 4 times as many firearms as she thinks I do. SSSSHHH!!!

She does not mind me having a gun. She does mind me having more
than one gun and thousands of rounds. She just doesnt get it. Better
safe than sorry.

Maybe you could ask her to be more specific: More than one gun per application, you know, one .22 for plinking, one 30-30 for deer, one 30-06 for elk, one 300 win mag for oryx? And, of course, a thousand rounds per each. And also, do pistols count since they really don't take up much space. Hang in there, sometimes you have to bring them up slowly .

Mine didn't know for about the first 2 month's, She was a little, "what are you trying to prove" for a month or so after that, Now she just makes sure I have my gun before I go.

My wife approves.. Just the other night when we were watching the news, there was some pretty violent stuff on, she began to do an inventory so she would know where exactly they were in case she needed one. I also have a 15 yr old son, who is an excellent marksman, who has access to certain firearms in case of an emergency.
*Almost forgot, she is considering taking a ccw class herself. I think I might have her and my soon to be daughter-in-law talked into taking a woman's only class. I read on here that one was offered in either June or August. If anyone has any info for one in Sept or Oct. I'd appreciate it.

she likes it when I carry but does not like the fact that is all I talk about 98% of the time

I voted "Approves 100%" but it's more like 99%. She looks at guns and spots sales on ammo for me, but when the price tags start building up...that's the other 1%. So long as all the money isn't going to guns she's on board.

Riclin Firearms Training LLC. He usually has one CCW class per month and a womens only class every couple of months. He's listed below in the Sponsers and Supporters group, and well worth talking to.

Thank you all for the kind words. We just finished a women's ccw class the beginning of this month. We'd be happy to do another one if there are several ladies who are interested.
Just let me know...

Riclin Firearms Training LLC is a bit far away for "wife training" for those of us that live in Florida , but , I have been talking to one of our local gun shops and Massad Ayoob lives quite close to where we live .
Massad Ayoob is well known and does training at a New Hampshire training center .
I've been told that he will be putting together a class for locals and I am trying to get my wife included.
Mas can be Googled for more information -- he has quite a resume.

How many women would you require to have a successful class? I have 2 my wife and my soon to be daughter-in-law that I believe would be interested. My daughter is taking a pretty demanding college schedule so it would have to fit in, but I know she is interested.

The only problem my wife has with my firearms is the money I sink into them. Even so, she doesn't complain and firearms purchases I've made have been with her prior knowledge (firearms trades are the exceptions). I certainly feel supported. She's been shooting with me a few times and we even joke that I carry her pistol. I had a GLOCK 23 and picked up a GLOCK 19. I bought the 19 because I knew the 23 would be a bit harsh for her to shoot. So, essentially I bought the 19 for her. It has turned into my every day carry pistol. She reminded me the other day that I was carrying her pistol... I would be more than happy to hand it over but she is not interested in carrying around a pistol. I wish she was...

My wife approved of me getting my CCW. She is not comfortable with me carrying around the house with our two boys. I think she is coming around though. I just need to get her out shooting more. Just wish it was not so damn expensive.

My wife doesn't carry and doesn't own a gun. But she approves and understands why I carry. She is coming around. When I tell her, "Well looks like they only have 4 boxes of .45 on the shelf", she'll say "you better get'em all then". Also when we go out, to town, walking or whatever I'll ask her if she has her Kimber pepper spray and she will tell me "I don't need it. I have you".
