This will help some of us get to know those who have been carrying for a while. How long have you been carrying concealed?

Me, I took Richards class in April and received my license in May of 2008. I really felt a ton more comfortable around a firearm after taking this class. It does much more for you than give you access to a permit.

When 9/11 happened I took my spouse and we took the course. She likes to shoot a little but not carry unless things "feel" bad. I carry always. She needs to keep her license in because if she is stopped and I happen to have left a pistol in the vehicle she is driving she would still be legal.

Unfortunately OK requires CW permit holders to notify the police anytime they come in contact if acting in his official capacity while making the contact.

I have been carrying for 3 years now. Having my CCW is like having a security blanket.

I think there is a back log everywhere right now. No one knows what lies in the near future with Obama.

I started carrying back in 88 when I lived in Maryland. No,, I had no CCW. It was an act of God and the State Police to get a CCW there, And even if you were lucky enough to have one there were limits on where you could go with it. I moved to South Dakota in 1999, This is where I recieved my first CCW. South Dakota has come along way since I moved here, More reciprocity with other states. Be Safe, Dave

My wife and I have both been carrying since May/June of 08. She pretty much carries whenever she leaves the house. I work out of the house so I don't get to leave as often :(, but I pretty much carry whenever I leave.

Richard's classes have really helped us get this sorted out, and I highly reccommend them. I hope that enough people on this forum will consider them so that we can have an advanced class in the near future. Of course, that assumes that we will be able to get enough ammo for the class !!

Have had a federal permit since I was 25 so guess thats a little over 30 years. And who said that making a friend during Black Ops isn't good for a favor that lasts a lifetime.

Horray! My ccw License came in today's mail. I was really surprised. The State of New Mexico received my application exactly four weeks ago today. I thought that was fast when I have heard others state that it took up to three months to process their application.:D

Congrats DeaconJim. Welcome to the club. Let the worrying begin. j/k What I mean is the time period were you think everyone can see your gun. Your turn around time is great. Mine took months.

My Wife and I both since '05. We had some bad Hurricanes come thru that pushed us into it. At first we thought it was important to carry during emergencies while carrying cash and foraging for supplies, but after awhile it just got to be habit.

Among toters an old saying:

Tis better to tote and never need it - as to need it but not be toting.

Nicely said. I wish my wife would just understand that.:D

I spoke with Richard the other day and he said that people are still lining up to get their concealed carry permit. I think it is great.

Got my CCW in Nov. but have never been without a gun all my life. My father kept them and taught us how to shoot and when I got older I got my own. Carried open for quite a while or concealed in my vehicle. So legally about 20 years. One way or another.

I would prefer to open carry (wish everyone did) yeah I know all the pros and cons. I just think it would be nice to see everyones cards. LMAO. :D

Good thing I don't play poker. Regardless as I voted so shall I tote, which is concealed for all of the obvious reasons. I don't want any of the sheeple to get scared and I don't want the BG's to know I'm carrying.

Personally I think, that if Congress is going to pass a Gun Control Law and infringe our rights then they should at least make it effective and require everyone to get control of a gun and carry it. State issued with your Birth Certificate. Make mine a .45 :p

that's the 180 from antis. and it's something that i've thought about before. but, just as they can't force us to give up our guns we can't make them carry. we have to take the higher road on this one i guess. we can't do them like they are doing us.

Yeah, I know. I'm just frustrated with all the anti-gun legislation and propaganda, I'd rather do unto them before they do unto me. But your right if we get down to their level then we're no better than they are, of course there's no such thing as a fair fight. :D
