Does anyone know if New Mexico cross references your CCW with your drivers license? When a cop runs your DL will it show up that you are also a ccw holder?

If you get pulled over by a NM Law Enforcement Officer and they run your DL on their in unit computers it will tell them that you have a permit to carry. If they call it in to dispatch, they usually do not relay that information to them. Hopes this helps.

So what about a guy like me? I have a NM CCW, but being military, I have an out of state DL. When applying for my permit, I had to submit a copy of my military ID, not my DL. So they shouldn't have a clue if I have a CCw or not. And NM is not a duty to notify state so I have no obligation to inform the officer.

Scooter,
Take a good look at your CCW (assuming you have it already) and compare
the picture on it to your military ID. Here is why to look. A few years back,
the NM DPS went to a central data base for things like photos for resident
driver's license. That is why they no longer require submittal of passport style
photos with the application, because they use the existing data base. My CCW
has the EXACT Photo and thumbnail as is on my NM driver's license. I will be
interested to know if the same is true with your military ID photo. Or if you
have not received it yet, whether or not they ask you to submit passport photos.

I have the opposite thing going on. I have a NM drivers Licesnse but, a resident permit from another state. They probably wouldn't know.

I have three State ID's all with the same picture on it. It was the same picture from my DL 5 years ago.

Because I am required to use my military ID in order to receive a resident permit, I did have to submit passport style photos. The picture is of the one I submitted with my permit and not from my military ID. And as I have recently found out, it is illegal (by the UCMJ) for any military member to provide a photo copy of their ID for any purpose other than official military needs. So technically, NM requiring a copy of my ID is illegal and I am not (and was not) supposed to provide a copy to them. This is mainly for security purposes, but none the less.
