Does anyone have any experience with this gun? My son has one on layaway that he will be picking up probably this weekend. He and I are thinking that I may get one also as a father and son type of connection. What do you think of this model? He is going for the smaller "Champion" model.

I haven't heard too much about that one. I don't see how you can go wrong though. This is the one I have been reading up on. The EMP.

My goodness, that one is a beauty. It looks smaller than the Commander style. It looks like it's got an ambidextrous safety on it. My wife likes the 1911s, but is left-handed. I may have to have her look into this.
I know I can get an ambidextrous safety for my Bobtail, but then I run the risk of "losing" it.
I'm pretty sure I can't go wrong with the GI Champion either. I just was wondering if anyone had any experience with it. It is a foregone conclusion that I will get one, my son really wants me to. He is picking his up this weekend.
