Let me start by saying that I am not a mechanically inclined kinda guy. At Christmas time, my wife is usually is the one who puts the kids toys together because it takes me for ever and then she usually has to come help me finish putting it together anyways. I received my Console Vault (http://consolevault.com/) about a month ago and have been waiting for my new truck to come in so that I can install it. I received my 2010 Toyota Tundra (http://www.toyota.com/sem/tundra.html?srchid=K610_p151612912) this week and have had it in the shop getting it dressed up a bit with a 3" Toytec lift kit, 33' BFG AT KO's and a spray in liner. Today I installed the Console Vault (http://consolevault.com/) and it took me about 40 minutes to do so. And, I did it all by myself!! Most of the time spent was searching for the right socket in my tool box to fit the bolts that needed to be removed. Here is how easy it is.

Here is what the console looks like in a 2007 and newer Toyota Tundra (http://www.toyota.com/sem/tundra.html?srchid=K610_p151612912) with bucket seats. It has a deep compartment for lots of storage.

There are four bolts that hold down the console of the Tundra and the vault requires you to remove only two of them.
http://www.concealcarrychat.com/gallery/data/500/medium/DSC04095.JPG

In the center console of the Tundra (http://www.toyota.com/sem/tundra.html?srchid=K610_p151612912) is a power point that needs to be unplugged and removed for the installation process. Once you pop it out you need to unplug it from the wires that power it.

Before you place the Console Vault (http://consolevault.com/) into the console, you need to set the optional combination lock. On the underside outer edge of the lock, there is a hole for the code reset button. Rotate the face of the cam until the code reset button comes into view. Push this pin in with a paper clip and keep it pushed while you set your own personal three digit combination. Release the reset button and the new combination is set and read for use.

Now you are ready to secure the Console Vault (http://consolevault.com/) in place. You do this by removing the front bolt closet to the drivers side and the back bolt on the passenger side. Set the vault into place and using the new bolts provided, secure down the vault.

http://www.concealcarrychat.com/gallery/data/500/medium/DSC04102.JPG

Now you are finished installing your Console Vault (http://consolevault.com/)and ready for use. The fit and finish of this vault is perfect. It is secure and looks like it was from the factory the finish is so nice. I live in New Mexico where it is against the law to carry a firearm into any establishment that serves alcohol to be consumed on premises. So restaurants like Chili's and Applebees are a thief's dream. I feel much better knowing that if my vehicle gets broken into, my firearm is safe and sound in my Console Vault. (http://consolevault.com/) If you have children and like to keep a firearm in your vehicle, the Console Vault (http://consolevault.com/) is a safe way to do so for your children's safety.

http://www.concealcarrychat.com/gallery/data/500/medium/DSC04103.JPG

So far the only two things I can see that could be improved with the Console Vault (http://consolevault.com/), both which are very minor, are glow in the dark or illuminated numbers on the combination lock and the liner that comes with the Console Vault (http://consolevault.com/) needs to be secured down so it doesn't move so easily. It would be nice if Velcro was provided to do so. Again, both of these things are very minor and do not stop this product from being the best and safest vault I have tested.

I would like to thank Console Vault (http://consolevault.com/) for providing ConcealCarryChat.com (http://www.concealcarrychat.com/) with one of their vaults for this review. I personally would recommend Console Vault (http://consolevault.com/index.php?CheckCode=CCCHAT) to everyone who owns a firearm and keeps it in their vehicle. One of these vaults are a lot less than the cost of replacing a firearm that has been stolen! Please take a minute and look over their website. They offer console vaults and other fine products such as Gun Safes, Laptop Safes, and Auto Vaults. They even make these vaults for motorcycles. When you purchase your vault from Console Vault (http://consolevault.com/index.php?CheckCode=CCCHAT), enter
Check Out Code=CCCHAT for a 10% forum discount and free shipping! (http://consolevault.com/index.php?CheckCode=CCCHAT) This is a great savings from them.

Nice write up. It seems like a really good idea. However, when I went and looked, the don't make them for the Ford Explorer. Maybe the console must be a certain size to be able to install the vault.

Anyway, it seems like a good idea if you can get one for your vehicle.

Very nice review and great pictures too. Like Garcia, I looked into this when they first became a sponsor. Unfortunately it doesn't fit my car either. Too bad, I think it's a great idea!

I was using something like this in my truck before the console vault.

Except is not near as secure and as strong as this one. This is still a great way to secure your belongings inside your vehicle or suitcase when traveling.

I had the same problem, they don't make one for a Jeep Wrangler console, but I too use one like what you had before and it fits the bill. Maybe console vault will build one to fit my vehicle someday, but I'll make due for now.

Maybe you all should just buy some Toyota's from me! All problems solved.

If a Toyota could do what my Jeep can then I would consider it. As it is my wife drives a Toyota, that's enough. And don't try and sell me on the FJ, we've had that discussion. Nice truck though, enjoy

a stock fj is better than a stock jeep but the aftermarket support for the jeep is what gives it the nod for off roading.

Sorry Jizzle, but not by a long shot. That is why Jeep can honestly market as the most capable, off the assembly line, OHV on the market. The FJ is nothing more than an SUV with a heritage to its name. Back in the day of FJ40's, there were comparable, but not today.

We will all have our own opinions, and this isn't a pissing contest, but I have to disagree. And I think the research and facts support my position much better

so you are saying that you would take a stock current jeep over a stock fj if your life depended on getting from point a to point b off road? based on what? I have to ask.

Scooter, I am not saying that Jeeps aren't good vehicles. They are very good off road vehicles. Until you have seen what a stock and modified FJ can do, I wouldn't dog them. Check out this video from one of my FJ rallies. Most of the FJ's shown have a 3" lift and 33" tires. Some have skids as well.

OMG! This is the best forum ever! We talk about guns AND jeeps?? This is great!

This has always been a point of argument with some of my "land cruiser" buddies. Jeep is a jeep and always will be. Toyota Land Cruisers don't make "jeep trails"...Jeeps do!

As much as Toyota owners would love to elevate their status, it always falls short. There is to much proven history (military + other US agency's) with Willey's, Kaiser, AMC, and now Chrysler Corp.

Also, I don't understand Toyota's "FJ" designation? It sounds like another futile attempt to classify itself into the Jeep class (ie YJ, TJ, XJ). hahaha! Good luck!

Below is my daily driver.

Nice TJ. How high is that lift + tires?

Mine has a 1 1/2" shackle lift and 30x9.5 mud terrains.

It's actually an LJ, which was the 04 -06 Unlimited, mine being an 06. It has a 4.5" Rubicon Express super flex lift with 33x12.50 Dick Cepek MT. Shrockworks sliders, Rockkrawler knuckle to knuckle steering conversion, LockRite autolocker in the front, and a handful of other mods

I have a Console Vault on the way, due here on Feb. 15th. Saw it on Tundra Talk, ordered the barrel key lock version. Figured I'd join up with this forum, and I really appreciate the $45 I saved with the ccchat code.
I don't off road with my Tundra (http://goneballistic.info/t2.jpg), I off road with my Honda. (http://goneballistic.info/atv1.jpg) I use my Tundra as a daily driver, to pull an occasional trailer... and of course to haul my guns. See organizer. (http://goneballistic.info/organizer.jpg) Some of my guns probably wouldn't fit in a jeep. Here is an example. (http://goneballistic.info/rebel.jpg) Even if they would fit, nothing that big rides with me.
If I ever come into some real money, I would like one of these. (http://www.anzioironworks.com/MAG-FED-20MM-RIFLE.htm) At the bottom of that page, Nick is shooting one with the optional suppressor at the Manatee Gun Club (http://www.manateegunclub.com/) of which I am a member and volunteer RO.

Very nice!! I love the organizer in the back of the Tundra. Looks good. I love my Console Vault. I wouldn't hesitate recommending it to anyone!
