It is stories like this that make people want to ban guns. They here these stories and say, if there were no guns this would have never happened. I feel sorry for these peoples families. I don't understand what goes through the minds of individuals when they feel they need to kill their own children.

I do too. I don't know how anyone can take the lives of their children.

But at the same time there will never be a world without guns. And, even if there were, the world would still have bad people in it that would do these things. That is really the problem. But of course we know that. The problem is getting the others to understand that.

when you bring childeren into a bad story it evokes a very strong emotional response in a reasonable person. that's where they get a lot of their support from. people that make decisions based off of their emotions.

This is a terrible story. I agree with Jizzle, a reasonable person becomes very emotional at the thought of harming their or anyone's children. This was obviously not a reasonable persons response to any type of problems this family was going through.

On another note, if this were a non-gun owning family the outcome would have been the same with a different headline something like "Local Man Slay Family With Butcher Knife" And because the community at large views a butcher knife the same way the "responsible" gun owning community views a hand gun - as a TOOL, no one would be remotely concerned with the potential of a "Butcher Knife Ban". It is the responsibility of every gun owner to educate when ever and however possible.

I guess I'm preaching to the choir, but those were my thoughts. I think I'll go hug my wife and kids now. Have a wonderful Sunday with your families.
