Does anyone here do cowboy action shooting? I have not, but I've been watching the show Cowboys! and it looks like fun. Some of the outfits they wear are a bit much though!

I'm going to have to do that Packing. I've thought about it for several years now. The group here in Las Cruces meets once a month and have shooting events monthly. I have the guns, but still need to get a cowboy outfit...

We have a Cowboy Action Shooting match here in Alamogordo the first Saturday of every month. Come over and shoot, Max. Don't worry about having all the right clothes...shoot some matches and then see what you would like to do as far as clothes (and all the other cowboy stuff you won't be able to live without...).

Are all the matches timed? I'm afraid I would be very slow...I'm not afraid though. It really looks like fun so I'll have to check it out. I'm surprised that there aren't more people on this forum that are in to cowboy action shooting. Maybe it is because most are young, at least younger than me. I grew up watching Roy Rogers, Gene Autry and John Wayne movies.
The "other cowboy stuff you won't be able to live without" is exactly what my wife is worried about!
I'll see you there Richard!

Yes, the stages are timed. But don't worry about the timer. The whole point of the cowboy match is to have fun. Bring what you have and you'll be able to make do.
I'm sorry I can't help with your wife's concerns about all the other stuff you can't live without...you'll have to take that up with her...or better yet get her involved and then she'll see how valuable all that other stuff is!

Did anyone check-out Michael Bane on Shoot'in Gallery with the Zoot Suit Shoot? Yikes! it looked like a blast crack'in off with all .45's -1911 & Thompson subs, except for the git-ups! it makes Tupelo Flash look right at home in his SASS leather or even one of his Elvis jump-suits! Ha Ha...true entertainment.
