The January Shooting Clinic went well. After practicing drawing the pistol safely, we warmed up by drawing and firing the number of rounds called out by the instructor. The we progressed to practicing both speed reloads and tactical reloads.

Then, to complicate matters, we fired several rounds, two handed, gripping the pistol with the weak or opposite hand rather than our dominate hand. This felt very awkward at first to most of the participants. After that, we moved back to 15 and 20 yards, firing from the kneeling position at each distance.

The final drill incorporated the SUL technique for looking around 360 degrees to see what is in your environment. However, to make sure people actually looked, they were required to fire two rounds at their target, turn and look around using the SUL, find an instructor who was holding up a number of fingers, turn back to face their target and fire the number of rounds indicated by the fingers. An interesting drill.

Many thanks to Desert Sun Motors for being there and providing goodies and support (and I really liked the red Toyota truck they brought along...).

To those who were there, thank you for participating. I would like to hear your thoughts about some drills for the clinic on February 15.

Richard, Great class on Sunday.

I really liked the drill practicing the SUL technique. It was challenging and informative. You are welcome for Desert Sun being there. We were happy to do it and are looking forward to being out there next month.
