Does anyone know where Springfields are made these days? My son recently bought a GI Champion, and I was surprised to see it was made in Brazil. So, I was wondering if they were all made there, or are they made in various places based on model?

Thank Bman. I didn't know that they had moved all or part of their operation overseas. I guess that's the age that we live in though.

They are made in Brazil unless you buy a Springfield customer shop pistol. Those are made in the USA.

Well, I was specifically talking about the Springfield 1911s because the original poster was referring to his son's 1911 and this is in the 1911 thread... Others are right about the XD line of pistols. They're made in Croatia and imported exclusively by Springfield and wear Springfield markings. Years ago they were introduced to the US market under the name HS 2000 but didn't do so well. Springfield does a good job marketing, reintroduced the pistol as the XD and it flew of the shelves.
I spend way too much time reading up on this s**t...
