Due to the rise in ammo costs and even handloading, what factory brand have you guys & gals been loyal to if any?
I have factory defensive loads in everything from Mag-Tech, Speer, Hornady, Remington, Winchester, CorBon and a few that I'm sure that I have forgotten in my stash.
Over the past year or so I have started to aquire some Fiocchi ammo and around here their XTP defense loads are considerably cheaper and fully reloadable. I compare prices all the time and found that this Missouri loaded ammo that comes 50 to a box for the price of mentioned brands 20 count box, now this is what I'm seeing in certain places here and was wondering if anyone has seen the same where they reside?

I was surprised you received no responses to this post. I was curious to see what folks would say. Personally, I almost never buy commercial ammo
unless I need new brass to reload. 22 cal rim-fire being the exception. And for that, I tend to buy the economical bulk packs from WallMart. Usually
the Remington or Federal bulk packs which shoot well in the Ruger 10/22 and in revolvers and bolt actions. But its been over a year since I have seen
these bulk packs available there.

It's been over a year since I've seen any hand gun ammo at wal-mart. I stock up on ammo at the gun show's. I can find winchester fmg 230 gr and federal fmg 230 gr for about $21.00 a box. I have found some off brands a little cheaper. Both of my .45's eat anything i put in them. My .38 and .357 are revolvers so if it can slide into the cylinder they are happy.

Recently the only "plinking" ammo I use is either my own reloads or the Wal-Mart white box Winchester 100 round box. When I can find it at Wal-Mart. These cost me $24.00 a box. Seems like good ammo. Fairly clean and accurate. My .45 likes it. Just bought the last 2 boxes of 50 whit box Winchester self defense (JHP) rounds at Wal-Mart. These were $30 each. May have been too much but I got them any way. Wal-Mart is the only place in my little town to buy ammo. Next closest place is 20 miles away. My EDC ammo is a Federal HST. Got it from Ammunition To Go a while back. Can't remember how much.

100 rounds of .45 for $24.00, buy all you can. Last box of 50 I got from wal-mart was $21.00

I thought it was pretty good and I get all they have when they have it or all I can afford.

other than rimfires I always use my own stuff. I know Mas, we disagree, my lawyer knows him better and agrees with me.

Finally found ammo at Wal-mart. Remington L45AP4 (what ever that means) for $18.00 per box. Bought all 5 boxes they had on the shelf.

For handguns used for personal protection I prefer Hornady XTP HPs or Speer Gold Dots. Both these rounds, in factory loads, feed well in all of my firearms. Also, I get an added benefit using either of these cartridges: Both manufacturers provide the same bullets used in their factory loads for reloading purposes. As you know good factory personal protection ammunition is expensive, which makes practicing with it extremely costly. Reloading, being relatively inexpensive, allows me to get a lot of practice using ammo with almost the exact same characteristics as the ammo I use when I carry.
