While I did this review back in 2005 it is still one of the highest rated holsters on the "Rig-Rate" site.

This review is as much about the company "Milt Sparks" as it is about the Versa-Max 2 holster. Please read it all and you will understand what great concern and customer satisfaction is to this company.
Being in the US Army Special Forces is one of the most demanding jobs on the planet during peacetime. Now take that job and place it in Iraq and you have an environment that places men and their equipment into one of the most challenging and difficult situations ever known. Being SF has certain perks and one of those is the personal selection of a backup or conceald carry weapon.
Being a large fan of the M9 (92FS) I knew the first time I picked up a Beretta 8000F Cougar that this was the gun for my CC needs. It's ergonomics fit and handle just like a M9 thus one less thing to learn new muscle memory for.
Now the task came to finding a holster that met my needs for durability, comfort during long periods of wear and most of all "funtionality".
After trying many and putting them into the ole file cabinet I had a friend who loaned me his Versa-Max 2 for a couple weeks about 1 1/2 months before I left for Iraq.
The holster was flawless, fit like a glove, was extremely comfortable and my wife who always noticed when I carried concealed was surprised ever time. Not once did she guess when I was carrying.
This was my holster! Now for the hard part - I contacted Milt Sparks direct with only 3 weeks left and told them my situation and what I wanted. Needless to say they haven't had a large demand for the VM2 for an 8000F so they didn't have one produced but said they would try to make my deadline.
Well was I ever surprised to receive my holster with 5 days to go! Way to go guys.
Now for the holster. In the past 16 months it has endured temperature as high as 130F and never complained or lost any of it's durability or fit.
At times I have worn my VM2 for 9-12 days without ever taking it off. NO! - I didn't smell pretty but I knew without any doubt that if I reached for my Cougar that it would be exactly where I placed it.
I have retrieved this little 9mm numerous times from the holster and it draws cleanly and after a little practice re-holsters very nicely considering I was mostly wearing bulky military gear.
The retention is just right and I think the adjustability is within the range to fit every ones needs.
Last but not least - NO Milt Sparks didn't contract or pay me to write this. I don't always manage to get what I consider to be a perfect item in most things that I buy but when it comes to holsters I intend to buy several more for my other pistols of choice for CC.
Again - thanks to the gang at Milt Sparks. You did a fantastic job and I won't forget it!
