I am sure that those of you who shoot other makes of firearms have similar stories to tell, but I felt compelled to give a shout-out to the people at Smith & Wesson.
Last year I purchased three M&P pistols. Two where for me, and one for my Fiancée'. She deserved a good pistol, as she had shown a great deal of conviction with my "hand-me-down" Mod.3913 pistol that had served me well through many sorties while in Narcotics Divsion.
Cutting to the chase, about a week after I purchased the pistol for her we went to the range. She really loves her M&P, but while cleaning, I found that the pen that holds in the interchangeable grip was damaged. It was nothing major, but I only want the best for her.
After spending a little time on the Smith & Wesson website, I decided to send a quick e-mail from work. Below was my request.

To Whom It May Concern:
I have purchased three of your firearms in the last year. Two compact M&P one 9MM, one 40cal, with the third one being a full size M&P 40cal. The 9MM was a gift to my fiancée' and she loves it. However the pin that holds on the changeable grip is damaged. Please advise of the cost for replacement pins for each of the three pistols.
Thank you for your assistance ahead of time. I have owned Smith pistols for over twenty eight years, keep up the good work.
************************************************** ********
What I got was not totally unexpected, but again was an example of how a stand up company stands behind their product.
I arrived for work the next morning to a return email that instructed me to send my mailing address and the requested items would be sent. There was no mention of a fee for parts, or a fee for shipping.
I wasted no time in sending the address, and received the requested items within a week. For those of you who have not made a decision on what type of pistol, rifle, or shotgun you might want to buy. I know that there are a lot of great companies out there too, but I have owned no less than ten Smith pistols, and one shotgun. You could do worst than Smith and Wesson.
To the guys and gals at Smith & Wesson, this "Buds for you!".
