I have been asked recently about the best holster for concealed carry. While I have been carrying a weapon on/off duty for more than twenty eight years I am no closer to being able to provide a definitive answer to that question.
I hate responding with what I carry, because that is such a narrow perspective to draw from, no pun intended.
I have a number of holsters that I use, Miami Classic Galco shoulder holster, Serpa, Fobus, and various types of "Fanny Packs". The time of year, and the type of clothing seem to dictate my choice. I would love to find one and stick with it. The constant changing could present a possible hazzard. I have nightmares about reaching for my waist when the darn thing is in my SOB....LOL
I would be grateful for your insite. That is, if you can help a brother out.
Brand names, realitive cost, and other information would be appreciated. Thanks ahead of time....

I think this is the reason we all have several holsters. Trying to find that perfect one. Again, I think this is like the perfect conceal carry firearm. Every person has the one that fits them the best.
With that being said, my choice so far as which one I find most comfortable and versitile, is going to be the DM Bullard Dual Carry (http://estore.websitepros.com/1565531/Categories.bok?category=Dual+Carry+Holster+Guns+A-M) and I am wanting to try out their Jr. Dual Carry (http://estore.websitepros.com/1565531/Categories.bok?category=Jr.Dual+Carry) as well.

Here is my two cents worth. I first tried a really inexpensive Uncle Mike's nylon holster when I started carrying concealed a little over two years ago. It had a single plastic clip and I tried using it IWB. Learned real fast it wasn't good for much except for transport from my house to my car. I bought a Crossbreed Supertuck shortly after that and have stayed with it ever since. Obviously it is IWB. For OWB I use a Fobus. My first one was for a 1911 with rail. My Kimber doesn't have a rail. It worked okay, but I wasn't satisfied with the fit. So I bought a Serpa Sportster. Didn't like it, sent it back. Bought another Fobus (c21b compact), this time for 1911 w/o rail. Love the fit on my gun.
Holsters of all kins OC/CC are too personal of a thing to really advise on.
90% of the carriers I know have a couple drawers full of pretty new holsters. All you can do is try 'em and swap 'em till you get the right one for you.
I have gone through a couple of thousand dollars worth of holsters over the past 30 years till I got what I wanted (ended up making my own to do it too).
Find other folks that CC and swap around before you buy anything
As for ladies and holsters talk to Rusty Sherrick http://www.c-rusty.com/pages/Holsters.html these are the folks to talk to. They do a good job reasonably and will work with you

Scott, I bought myself a Crossbreed Supertuck for my XD45 and absolutely love it. I bought one for my wife for her XDSC9 and she wears it in the front and she has carried all day, everyday since she got that holster. It is worth checking into!

The supertuck is an awesome cc holster. I have one for my Para P12 and just ordered one for my taurus Slim. They are very comfortable and well made.

For the most comfy and best built holster I own is the Milt Sparks versa max. I wear it at about 4 o'clock and walking, sitting, or driving, I almost forget I'm wearing it. Kinda pricey and takes awhile to get, but well worth it.

I recently got one of these for my Sig P226 but hadn't gotten around to really trying it out. I wore it yesterday and today and am pretty impressed. Again, I wear it at about 4 o'clock and had on a t shirt and a light cover shirt. No problems at all with printing and it was amazingly comfortable even while driving. The Sig is quite a bit bulkier than my Defender, but rode nicely without any pinching or poking. In fact, I just ordered another body for it for my 1911s.
I had a Crossbreed and sold it because it felt really bulky to me. This one feels slimmer and more comfy against the skin than the super tuck. This one seems easier to put on and take off the the CB also.

Like others have stated, I too, have many holsters that I swap on a daily basis. I have found that living in the Desert Southwest, the weather dictates what holster to wear at a given time. Before sunrise is normally very cool but by mid-to-late afternoon on the same day, it can be near or beyond 100 degrees. So how do we get around this based on our apparel? IMHO: multiple holsters. Also, I have to consider what "Exposure" to criminal activity I [I]may encounter based on where I'm going. This is far from an exacting science and I may choose one firearm over another based on that criteria. My answer to your question may not be an answer at all! I shoot weekly and focus each weekly session on one particular "carry" position. Next week will be yet another position and so on. I may carry "appendix" this morning, "SOB" this afternoon & "in the boot/ankle" this evening. A drawback to changing carry styles so often means one must have a fresh mind 100% of the time because, by design, we "humans", tend to be creatures of habit and the firearm may not be in the same position it was three hours ago. I don't believe that "perfect" holster yet exists except for the person whom dresses the same day in and day out. Until that day arrives for me, I'll have to stick with changing styles of carry based on apparel. Some of my favorite holsters include "CrossBreed - Supertuck" IWB, "High-Noon Slide Guard" OWB, "Galco - SOB" OWB, and "Blackhawk - CQC" OWB. I have a "High Noon - Yaqui" Belt on the way that I have yet to test drive. Best of luck in your endeavors. CS

I use the leather-kydex hybrid; the Crossbreed ST for my 1911 and the Kholster for my PT 845
