Spencer Green, File) A trader on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange is suing the city of Chicago and Mayor Daley over their new gun ordinance. The lawsuit, which includes a number of plaintiffs, was filed Tuesday. The new ordinance was put in place by Mayor Daley and the City Council to maintain gun control after the Supreme Court overturned the city's decades long gun ban. Daley's ordinance requires gun owners to register their weapons and keep them locked up in their homes. This trader in particular says that the new gun control ordinance encroaches on his 2nd Amendment rights provided to him by the Constitution. The suit seeks to have the City Council certify the ordinance as "null and void." The National Rifle Association has put its support behind the lawsuit. The Illinois Association of Firearms Retailers is named as one of the plaintiffs in the lawsuit. |
Let's hope this one will find its way through the courts in a hurry! One more anti-gun judge is likely to be confirmed, and when that happens who knows what will happen.

Amen to that brother!

This is a good law! The criminals will now have to register their guns and leave them locked up at home. The public will finally be safe!

I'm just listening to the little voices in Daley's head. It is so empty that the echo is deafening! Of course, you may not be able to hear it way down in the SW because of the wind coming out of Chicago.
Yes Bman, I was kidding. (I can't believe you bought a Ruger either after the hard time you gave me about them.:D) |
