Here in Montana there is a law on the books that doesn't allow carrying into banks.....and a few other places...
"45-8-328. Carrying concealed weapon in prohibited place -- penalty. (1) Except for legislative security officers authorized to carry a concealed weapon in the state capitol as provided in 45-8-317(1)(k), a person commits the offense of carrying a concealed weapon in a prohibited place if the person purposely or knowingly carries a concealed weapon in:
(a) portions of a building used for state or local government offices and related areas in the building that have been restricted;
(b) a bank, credit union, savings and loan institution, or similar institution during the institution's normal business hours. It is not an offense under this section to carry a concealed weapon while:
(i) using an institution's drive-up window, automatic teller machine, or unstaffed night depository; or
(ii) at or near a branch office of an institution in a mall, grocery store, or other place unless the person is inside the enclosure used for the institution's financial services or is using the institution's financial services.
(c) a room in which alcoholic beverages are sold, dispensed, and consumed under a license issued under Title 16 for the sale of alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises.
(2) It is not a defense that the person had a valid permit to carry a concealed weapon. A person convicted of the offense shall be imprisoned in the county jail for a term not to exceed 6 months or fined an amount not to exceed $500, or both. "

In the state of Ohio it is illegal to carry into a bank that is a FDIC this makes it a federal building in the states eyes but we did however recently repeal the no carry in bars or places that sell and or serve alcohol although the cc holder is not permitted to drink at these establishments they can certainly carry. This was a step in the right direction for us as I do go out with the wife very often but if the restaurant served alcohol we could not go in.

Here in Ohio, we have both, open carry and concealed carry. I usually carry concealed in my bank. It is not posted. The other day I had to with draw some cash and the clerk asked me what my hat said and I replied "Sig Sauer". She wanted to know more and I explained it was a firearm manufacture and the type of weapon I was carrying. See asked if see it and I replied, maybe some day after work. I smiled, she smiled, she handed me my cash, I tipped my hat and walked out of the bank!

Gldgr, I believe it is permitted to carry into a bank as long as it is not posted. This also applies to a restaurant that service alcohol.. If the establishment does not want gun owners business that must post at the door. If it's not posted, we feel free to carry and go about our shopping, movie watching or dinning. I also carry plenty or cards to hand out - No Guns = No Money.
