I bought a used RIA M1911-A1 this weekend at the show in cruces. It's straight GI-Spec. Nothing fancy. But, I couldn't pass it up based on the price and condition. It's very lightly used. And show's no signs of wear on the bore.
I'll post a picture if you like but it's just a plain jane for now. I need to order an ambi mag release and safety. What has everyone used website wise for parts? Anything that fits a basic GI-Colt or other brand will fit this gun. If you can please provide links. Also I've been looking at some various holsters. What's the consensus concerning carring a full sized 1911? Slide holster?

So have you taken it out and given it a try yet? I took my Colt 1919 out to the range right after I left the show. I had taken a cleaning kit with me and took it apart, cleaned and oiled it...and then fired it! It shoots great!

I did. It shoots very well. I put a couple different types of ammo through it. No issues. I replaced the grips with traditional walnut ones.

That's great! I'm sure it looks a lot better now. Shoots well too, but we expected that. Did you try any hollow points?

I think you will find it more than acceptable.
They are actually the only 1911 on the market that is anywhere near true military specification. The Filipino's take their 45's seriously. Sam |

I tried all diff kinds of ammo and no issue what so ever.
Ya sam, I like it a lot. I figured out how to get the safety off during the draw. I think with a little practice it'll be good to go.
