Default Do we have any 1911 fans out there?

Some think they're too big for a carry piece, but still, any fans of John Brownings masterwork?

I am a fan on the 1911, However I do not own one. My first 1911 was a Para Ordnance P14-45. It was a wonderful shooting pistol right out of the box. over the years I have owned a Springfield loaded and a Kimber Eclipes II and I know this will sound bad but the BEST 1911 I have ever owned was a Taurus PT1911. I am one of those people who find the pistol somewhat heavy to carry unless I use a shoulder rig. I dont really see me owning another 1911 in .45 acp but I would like to own one in a .38 Super. At one time Taurus was suppose to bring out their 1911's in .40 S&W, 9MM and .38 Super. But that has yet to happen and I really dont know if it will. If it does though I will be the first to order one in the .38 Super. Just my .02 cents, Be Safe, Dave

Big fan here. I currently have 9 in different variants and makers.

My favorite is a M1911 my dad carried since back in the early 40's. Another of my favorites is a M1991A1 model 80 match. It is a tack deiver out to 25 feet. The 1911 series is a lot of fun to shoot and while it is considered a large gun I find that it conceals as good or better than most of the modern hi-cap firearms.

I sometimes carry my Kimber just to take it out of the safe room once in a while. I also take several different guns to the range when I go so as to maintain proficiency with each type.

Thumbs up

Descreet, I figured you would have one or two. I got my first taste in the Army and have liked them ever since.

Mdbullet, I have had to opportunity to shoot a 38 super. Not much for a defensive load but what a sweet shooter!

Colt 45, man what a significant bummer . That would piss me off to no end.

Tblt44, I have a couple CZs. I went to the stainless guide rods because the plastic was showing some galling that worried me, but other than that, once they're broke in they're very nice pistols that are comfortable shooters and accurate as well. After my 1911s they're my favorites.

I don't own a 1911, but it was the first semi auto I ever shot. My dad owns one and taught me to shot pistol with it. He also has a Browning HiPower in 9mm that has a similar build. Love both of those guns. In fact when I bought my M&P 45, I selected it because of it's similar feel to the 1911. It has the ambi-thumb safety, with the small palm swell it has a familiar feel. I know it's not the same as the 1911, but more of the familiar feel I was looking for compared with others I was looking at.
