There are so many places that state that firearms are prohibited or restaurants that serve alcohol where in some States (NM) law states you can not carry period. My question is; do you ever carry in places that weapons are prohibited. Example, you are out of town with the family shopping and enjoying the day when you get hungry. The family votes they all want Olive Garden. You agree to keep the family happy and go. Olive Garden serves alcohol and it is against the law to carry a firearm on property. You don't want to leave your firearm in your vehicle because auto theft is known to be a problem in the area. So you make sure your firearm is concealed and you go in, eat and leave. No issues.
Have you ever carried in an area where firearms are prohibited?

If it's illegal I leave it in the car (post office, court house). If it's "prohibited" I'm taking it in. That's the whole point of concealed isn't it? I'm not letting my family go unprotected because the owner of some book store doesn't like guns. I'm an electrician so I'm in and out of all kinds of businesses and schools every day, some of which "prohibit" firearms. Tough luck gun haters, I'm way more likely to encounter an attacker or disgruntled employee in these places than in my house. Unless getting caught will land me in jail, I'm carrying, period.

I did it once in the local hospital. It was only for about 20 minutes
and then I went and put it in the car. I was in a rush to get my kid checked in. However, I would like to bring it in a resturant. Maybe one day, until then I will be a fish in a barrel for whackos with guns. |

Whenever I go to the malls for shopping I never carry conceal items with me because that one is restricted area.........I always leave my conceal items in my car........... So I suggest you to don't carry conceal item with you at that places....

From the Great Republic of Texas, Great Forum!
My wife and I both carry concealed in most businesses that prohibit guns. Since I never heard of a restaurant that prohibits guns being held liable for failing to provide a reasonable secured environment for my family and me? Like the recent IHOP shooting in Nevada, I don't know if IHOP has a prohibited gun policy or not. If they did and one of the injured was CCW that left his or her gun in their car. Shouldn't IHOP be held responsible for failure to provide security if they expect a customer to "give up" their own means of personal security? If they were held liable, I bet they would reconsider their policy. My 2 cents |

To answer the question: Yes, I have and will continue too! The good news is that I live in Ohio and on 30 Sept. we can carry into a place that servers alcohol. I also will take the time to write to the company and explain to them that I and others will not shop in there store if they continue to post a "no guns' sign. Several weeks ago I enter the local Version store. As soon as I entered I notice a "no concealed carry" sign. Which means to me that I have to open carry.
